From today, the carbon footprint from every meeting booked on the platform will be offset to support forest conservation and reforestation projects in Panama, making Gaest.com a carbon neutral frontrunner among professional space marketplaces.
By now, most have realized that climate change is an implacable force, making it necessary for everyone including companies to take action by promoting sustainable growth. That’s why we’re proud to announce we’re offsetting the carbon footprint as a natural part of our booking process on Gaest.com. Starting today, we’re leading the way by showing that even the smallest of efforts can make a big difference to how we each fight climate change.
To make sure this new initiative makes the greatest impact possible, we're not just offsetting the carbon footprint for all future bookings, but also every previous booking made on Gaest.com.
“We’re simply just trying to do our part,” says Gaest.com CEO and Co-founder Anders Boelskifte Mogensen when asked why this new initiative matters and adds: “We see this as a no-brainer opportunity to combat the carbon footprint created when customers book spaces on the platform.”
And we’re not only experiencing a growing number of Gaests (as we like to call our bookers) making environmentally conscious decisions. This new initiative is equally essential to our Hosts like Gabriela Hersham from the UK coworking space Huckletree, who are dedicated to encouraging sustainable actions:
"Sustainability is incredibly important to Huckletree, and we’re really excited to partner with Gaest.com on this initiative. We believe it's a strong step in raising awareness of the pressing need to offset carbon emissions and encouraging users to get involved and take action" says Gabriela Hersham, Huckletree Founder & CEO.
Fighting climate change by investing in reforestation
The carbon footprint for each space booked on Gaest.com will be calculated and offset to support Forest Conservation and Reforestation projects issued under the Gold Standard. Our first project is the CO₂OL Tropical Mix in Panama, where former fallow and degraded pastureland is reforested with mainly native tree species and turned into ecologically valuable mixed forests.
